New Required Training – NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid

Please review the most recent News Release from Get Covered New Jersey regarding required training for Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare recipients that are being re-determined for eligibility. Since many of these consumers may no longer qualify for these benefits, they will alternatively qualify for Marketplace coverage via the New Jersey State Based Exchange also known as Get Covered New Jersey.

The NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid Continuous Coverage Unwinding process began on April 1, 2023. During a 12-month period, NJ FamilyCare will re-determine eligibility for its recipients with a population of consumers being re-determined each month. Many of those consumers will stay in NJ FamilyCare, but many people will no longer qualify and will need new coverage. This process presents the single largest health coverage transition event since the first open enrollment period of the Affordable Care Act.

To help Agents and Brokers understand how to guide and educate consumers about the Medicaid Unwinding process, Get Covered New Jersey has created an additional, required module within the training platform. Agents and Brokers can go through the step-by-step module to learn details of the process and how to guide consumers. Log in with your Agent or Broker credentials and look for the “NJ FamilyCare / Medicaid Continuous Coverage Unwinding” module.

The deadline to complete this required training is August 31st.

Agents and Brokers may also remain up to date by reviewing the Medicaid Unwinding Frequently Asked Questions section on the Get Covered New Jersey website to help consumers learn about the unwinding process.
