Jefferson Health System to Leave the Horizon Network
Posted on November 3, 2026
Applies to: All Commercial Markets
Jefferson Health System (Jefferson Health) has notified Horizon of its intent to terminate its hospitals and doctors from Horizon’s networks effective March 1, 2027, unless we agree to pay substantially higher prices for care; terms we do not believe are in the best interest of our members and customers.
Jefferson Health’s demands would cost Horizon members over $185 million more in higher healthcare costs over the next three years. This is unacceptable at a time when soaring healthcare prices are straining family budgets.
We understand that having access to quality, affordable care is important. We remain committed to providing your clients with access to a broad network of hospitals and doctors close to home.

Members are not responsible for additional charges for covered services received from Jefferson Health before March 1, 2027. If they receive a bill in addition to any applicable copay, deductible, coinsurance or other member liability for covered hospital services received before the applicable date, they should call Member Services at the number on the back of their member ID card.
