Staying Healthy During Flu Season

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) reminds members that getting a flu shot is the most effective way to prevent the flu. We encourage all members to talk with their primary doctors about getting a flu shot. Members can also visit HorizonBlue.com/flu for a list of New Jersey pharmacies that contract with our medical network to administer immunizations.

In addition, our health plan members in New Jersey can also get no-cost flu shots and other vaccines, including shingles, hepatitis A and B, pneumococcal pneumonia, human papillomavirus (HPV), tetanus and measles/mumps/rubella (MMR), from NJ-based independent pharmacies in Horizon BCBSNJ’s In-State Immunization Network.

Preventive care saves lives
Staying healthy, especially as the COVID-19 public health emergency continues, means getting routine preventive care. In addition to simple hygiene practices, such as frequent hand washing and social distancing, immunizations are the best way to protect against many dangerous diseases. To help stay safe, members should see their doctor regularly and get all recommended immunizations.

Horizon BCBSNJ is dedicated to helping members on their journey to better health. We encourage our members to make a commitment today to put their health first. We are here to help them take care of themselves and their loved ones, now and always.
